Yosemite is quite a hike from SF so driving was again the main event of the day. Shortly out of
the campground we did make an unexpected stop to tour the Jelly Belly Factory. It was something I did with the kids seven years ago and Colin remembered it and wanted to stop again. The factory was conveniently located right along the highway we were taking to entice us to stop. It took a few hours to get through the line and tour but it made for a nice diversion in what would be a long day on the road. While at Jelly Belly they had new jelly beans in Cold Stone flavors. That then got us talking about Cold Stone which Conor had never been too and Pedro had never heard of so with the help of "God's Personal Secretary" we found the closest shop and forced ourselves to have some ice cream before continuing on our journey.
We did have a bit of an extra side trip when Colin accidentally put in the wrong city in the
GPS. So instead of heading south and then east on all easy riding highways. We headed east first towards the north entrance to the park. I felt like something was not right as I didn't remember such a rough ride later but we didn't know for sure until we drove up a really high mountain only to turn around and come back down the mountain. Then since we were already all the way east we now had to go south right along the mountain ridge! It was a hair raising ride. It really freaked me out when we got to a turn and after I went through the turn I could see the people coming from the other side had a sign telling them to drop their speed to 10 mph!! I was glad I didn't see it until after I was through the turn. Oh well, every day needs a little excitement.
