A quite day followed by a baseball game (Sat. July 17)

As I promised the boys yesterday today was take it easy day. I let them sleep in and then around 10:00 made them all pancakes for breakfast. By the time they got up it was over 100 degrees (much hotter in the camper which is not air conditioned) so they were quite willing to jump in the air conditioned van to run to get ice and a few groceries. Then it was back to a day by the pool for them while I worked.

On the way to the pool we first stopped to make a fluffernutter sandwich for Nanci one of the woman who works in the KOA office. When we checked in yesterday and she saw we were from MA the first thing she mentioned was fluffernutters. She was from Framingham & Buzzards Bay and had eaten them as a girl and had not had one in ages. I told her we happened to have fluff and she should stop by the camper and I would make her one. Then last night when I was working on my class work outside by the office (the WiFi here wouldn't reach all the way back to where our camper is) she came by and we got chatting and she mentioned her birthday was Sunday so now I knew we had to bring her one. So we delivered one to her as a little birthday gift and made her day!!!

After the boys tired of the pool and I had gotten some work (though not enough) done we headed out for a baseball game between the Inland Empire 66ers and the High Desert Mavericks. Whenever one of the kids come out from Spain I like to take them to a game as they have never seen a live game. If we could have fit just a few more days into the trip we could have stayed in San Francisco and seen the Oakland As play the Red Sox but we couldn't afford the extra days so I did the next best thing I could come up with. We of course had to root for the 66ers and the game was at the home field (yes it is out in the desert) of the Mavericks so we were out numbered in the stands. Lucky for us the 66ers won 12 to 4. We were careful not to carry on too much though as we were not sure how the fans would take it. The game was followed by a really good fireworks show so it made a nice ending to the night. I made sure to explain to Pedro that not every American baseball game is followed by fireworks!

After the game we hurried back to the campground and the boys quickly hit the sack because in the morning we are on a 9:15 tour of LA, Hollywood, Beverly Hills and the surrounding area.
