Colin was disappointed about not getting to take the picture with the

corvette and about not having the required stamp so he and I
got up early and headedba
ck to Hackberry so he could get a picture of the Corvette in front of the general store and get his passbook stamped. It was almost an hour each way. This is going to go down as one of those major "man do you owe me" events but he was so disappointed yesterday and knowing he may never get to do it again I decided to go for it. We don't regret it at all. Neither do my Conor and Pedro who decided there was no way they would be that crazy and slept in.
Once we got back we got the camper down and headed into Seligman. We loved the town!! We definitely did our share of helping out the economy there and spread the wealth among several stores. It is our favorite spot so far. There are so many cool Route 66 stores that have been around for most of the history
of 66. There are two brothers Angel and Juan Delgadillo. Angel ran a barber shop and Juan a restaurant called the Snow Cap Drive-In. Angel is now mostly retired but he has a souvenir shop he
runs (actually now mostly run by his family) and the occasionally will cut hair. The barber shop walls are lined with business cards from all the people who he has cut hair for. There is not one open spot. It is Angel who really got the idea to try to keep Route 66 from becoming just a memory. There was a post card that said "The Angel of Route 66" with his picture on it. There were also several other really good shops that were in vintage buildings. Also many, many old cars to look at.
We left Seligman and headed to Williams. We had plans to camp just a bit east of town so we drove t
hrough town first. We thought we would go set up the camper and head up to see the Grand Canyon but the weather was not great for the canyon so instead we spent several hours in town continuing to support the local e
conomy (I don't want to see my credit card bill when we get home!!!). We had a huge late lunch at Cruisers Cafe. The food on the route continues to be awesome!! I had a great pulled pork. The boys did burgers, wings, chili cheese fries and mozzarella sticks. Everything was excellent. The atmosphere was even better. What a fun place to eat.
We headed up to the campground in between storms and got set up. Later in the evening we returned to Williams so we could see all the neon lights lit and then had a quick sundae at Twisters Soda Fountain.
OK, time to get to bed. We are planning on sunrise at Grand Canyon. I hope I don't sleep through my alarm!!
I look forward the images of the Grand Canyon
