Cedar Point (Tues., June 29)

It was a perfect day for an amusement park!! Sunny and the low 70s. Plus it was a Tuesday!!! For those of you who are not amusement park enthusiasts, Tuesdays are the best day to go to an amusement park as the attendance is the lowest. The campground we were staying at was right at the park so we got to go in one hour earlier than the general public. That got us through Millennium Force and in line for Top Thrill Dragster with 15 minutes to go before the official opening. (These rides can have a wait of up to 3 hours on a busy day so this was really making time!!) We rode for a few hours, took a quick break for drinks and fruit at 11:00 and lunch at 3:00. I then stayed and did some work grading exams while the boys went back to the park. I rejoined them at 8:00 and we stayed until 10:00. We were all exhausted by the end of the night.

Here are some of our thoughts and recommendations in case you ever make it there.

1. Top Thrill Dragster is better at night.

2. The front seat of Top Thrill can be a bit overpowering.

3. Gemini (racing coasters) is a lot more fun when you have two people on each train in the same seat.

4. Mean Streak really hurts your neck and back particularly if you are sitting in the back.

5. Wicked Twister takes off so fast it leaves your stomach behind. You just have to pick it up on the way back through.

6. Millennium Force is probably the best ride in the park. Though not quite as high a thrill level as Dragster it is a great roller coaster with lots of really good hills.

7. You will lose track of time really easily and miss dinner so be sure to have left over pizza and peanut butter & fluff waiting in your trailer so you have something to eat at 10:30.
